Training tips for this race
- Respect the distance jump. Moving from sprint to Standard or long-course racing roughly doubles or triples your race time — build your longest brick to at least 70% of race duration three weeks out.
- Nail your nutrition. Longer races are eaten, not just raced. Practice your exact race-day fueling — gels, drink mix, timing — on every long ride so there are no surprises.
- Pace the bike conservatively. The most common long-course mistake is riding too hard and walking the run. If you can speak in short sentences on the bike, you are in the right zone.
- Get open-water practice. Pool fitness does not fully transfer: sighting, wetsuit feel, and swimming in a pack are skills. Aim for at least three open-water swims before race day.
- Read the athlete guide cover to cover. Big-series races run on precise schedules with thousands of athletes — check-in windows, cutoff times, and transition rules leave no room for improvisation.
